Its very very simple. Somehow I magically hit some keyboard shortcut that made all my object managers layers jump out of their heirachy and into … well just layers. Couldnt work out how to get it back to heirachy. Overlooked the simplisity of unticking the layers option in the view menu for a long time.
But for a real question. i’m very new to the 3d world. Learning all the modelling tools slowly:
1. Where is a very good tutorial series that outlines the best way to model: I have a lynda subscription but the tutorials aernt the best for modelling 101.
2. How do you join a point (vertice) to an edge? Is there a tool that does this? -
Is there a way to copy the coordinates of one objects axis point to another objects axis point?

Sorry yes I may not have been clear. The second object actually appears behind that card as you can see. It is a bevelled rectangle that with a texture that makes it appear as a gift card.
As you can see from its position it is directly behind where the winners card stops. I would like to rotate them around a common axis as you said. Basically so that the gift card is revealed. Its as if the gift card is attached to the back of that winners card.

Ok I now have a stupid issue with a null. The lock on the front of the barrel, I would like to rotate to unlock. The polygon objects that make up the lock are in a null, and the rotation bands of the null are not in the right axis, i.e not lying in the way I would like to make a rotation.
I’ve tried everything i’m aware of to attempt to change the angle of these bands using the enable axis modification tool. I cant seem to change them though?
What am I missing?

April 13, 2012 at 3:55 am in reply to: Basic question about rotating around an objects axis and painting edge questionOk disregard teh first question. Not sure what I was doing wrong, but its all working now!
So now I’d like to know about just how to paint the edges.
And any tips on putting some small planes in there, that get jumbled around as I spin the barrel.
As simple as just turn on collosion?
