You can use 1440 in a 1080 Sequence.
HDV is just a rectangular pixel instead of a square HD pixel.
This fact makes up the dimension difference for 1920 from 1440( if that makes sense)
You may or may not have to “Interpret/Modify” Footage PAR.

May 16, 2015 at 12:10 am in reply to: “Replace with After Effects Comp”/’TimeWarp’ workflow?Good to know, Craig. Sounds like you’re not really sold on dynamic link.
I am not against it at all. Its a great idea and I would use it in certain circumstances were they to arise.
I just find it so easy to think in unique single assets and not have to worry about editing via dynamic link to some huge complex unrendered Comp that has a bunch of assets and stuff attached to it.
AEFX is not a real time edit experience and I so much enjoy how PPRO is. I just do stuff to maintain that.

May 15, 2015 at 5:36 am in reply to: “Replace with After Effects Comp”/’TimeWarp’ workflow?I usually work directly on my clips in AEFX and export a Digital intermediate for importing as an asset into Premiere Pro.
ie…no direct or dynamic links.
Simple , easy and makes for good asset management workflows….as wel as a “smooth” edit experience from fully rendered files in PPro.
If I want to revisit that clip..OPen AEfx..rework it and export again to same filename or an iteration if I wish.
Same file name is like a dynamic link in the fact that it updates on the timelime as/where used.

May 15, 2015 at 5:22 am in reply to: How much can you zoom in on 4K footage in a 1080P timeline?I had assumed that the OP would have already had the 4K in the 1080 Sequence displayed to fit properly in the 1080. ie 50% as base for scaling from.
Cant see any reason why he would have used a 1080 sequence at all if had intended to start off “cropped” at 50% and then be limited from there.

He is talking about 4K in a 1080 Sequence.
He should be able to zoom in until he gets to the “equivalent 1080 sensor area” which would be approx. 200%
