December 23, 2011 at 5:57 pm in reply to: 23.98 shoot ,to 29.97 edit, and back to 23.98?Scott,
I have a suggestion you can try out, but I’m not a hundred percent on this, so definitely make a full back up and don’t delete any original media before doing this.
It’s possible to click on your bin(s) and export them as .ALE files. Then from the finder (mac), open them in Text Edit (or Wordpad Windows) and change the FPS from 29.97 to 23.976. Save.
Make new 23.976 project, import bins, recapture at 23.976 and see what happens. Might be worth a quick experiment with just a sequence bin and one capture bin at first to see how it goes and if the edits line up.

This may or may not be it, but have you checked to see if you have any other windows overlapping the composer monitor? Like your audio tool or mixer?
Sometimes when another tool window gets nudged and slightly overlaps the playback console, it can cause these weird problems. Worth a closer look.

Uninstalled/re-installed BCC 4.2 FX and still same annoying error message:
“Unable to verify authorization. Please install Boris Continuum Complete from the original distribution CD-ROM.”
It goes away after clicking OK about 15 times. And effects work in the Avid. Just annoying error at this point. Not sure what to do.
Ugh.

Ok, after some googling, I did the following and it worked, sort of. Now it’s giving me a similar error about Boris CC plugins, but at least the Avid opens.
1. Reset my permissions on my Mac HD to Read and Write (for some reason my personal user setting was no longer there).
2. Go to https://www.paceap.com and download their Mac drivers (conveniently located on first page).
3. Once it mounts, use uninstaller, then install LicenseSupport.mpkg
** If I had it to do over again, I might have first tried trashing the folder at Library/Application Support/PACE Anti-Piracy and then just tried the installer. I’m not sure if running the uninstaller somehow messed with the BCC effects authorization, but will deal with that more on Monday.
Good luck!

Jon, I am currently experiencing this exact same issue. Not trial version though, just bought the upgrade.
I did everything as usual, updated dongle and activated via dongle when opening the new software for the first time. Repaired permissions, restarted computer and still same error.
Currently uninstalling software. Then hopefully during install I will have activation options again, and this time planning on choosing the System ID and Serial Number option.
Will post afterward with news, good or bad.

Will update with any successess.

December 11, 2009 at 4:51 pm in reply to: DISK_TOO_MANY_OPEN error in record and source monitorsI’m having this EXACT same problem, along with a plethora of other errors and crashes. This all began after I upgraded to version 4.x, and the updates haven’t fixed anything. Very frustrating.
I saw an older post from Grinner mentioning either moving your media files to a different drive or renaming the AvidMediaFiles folder and letting Avid rebuild that from scratch, then move the media to the new folder, which I’m going to try next.

By the way, what kind of system and drives are you running?

Thank you for the responses! Sorry for the late reply, got caught up in a different project.
I tried the ALE solution and it worked perfectly! Very clever!

If you have access to a DVCAM deck (or any other kind of deck for that matter) I would recommend just dubbing it to tape straight from a DVD player.
Then digitize as normal.
