  • Capture glitch in MC5.5.1

I’m having a capture issue with MC 5.5.1.

The system manages the tape machine very successfully. The audio is recognized by the system- shows up on the VU meters. But there is no video in the record viewer or the client monitor. I can mark in and out points and capture quite successfully. But I can’t see the input in the viewer or with the waveform/vectorscope.

It worked just fine a couple of weeks ago. I’m sure I’ve missed something in the settings. Or somewhere else.

Now I’ll go have a glass of wine and await guidance.

    Thanks all.

Sorry if this is really stupid but…

Have you enabled the video track in the capture tool?

    Hey Terence,

that’s the first question to be asked. And yes, the video capture thing is clicked.

Remember that I can still capture. But the video just doesn’t show up in the viewer or monitor.

    This is a real headscratcher.

    What kind of deck?

Firewire or Nitris or Mojo or what?

Deck is Sony UVW-1800. Capturing through analog MoJo as a component input.

Worked very well a couple of weeks ago. Now…… well, it still works, but can’t see in the viewer or monitor.

    Still can capture.

I’m sure I’ve missed and/or screwed up something.

    All help is appreciated.

When you say you can capture, is the video there when you play it back? So the issue is play through while capturing? Or is the video just not captured in the file?

Yup. Video is there when I capture and play it back. Goes into a bin like it should. Works just fine.

But I can’t see video on the monitor or record viewer or scopes when logging. When I hit the red button for capture, I see it on the monitor. And it is captured just fine.

I’m sure I’m missing something simple. Wouldn’t be the first time.

This may or may not be it, but have you checked to see if you have any other windows overlapping the composer monitor? Like your audio tool or mixer?

Sometimes when another tool window gets nudged and slightly overlaps the playback console, it can cause these weird problems. Worth a closer look.

My composer windows are OK. I have experienced that little problem quite a few times and have learned to look there early on.

Today I tried something interesting- I opened a different project and tried to capture. Everything worked as it should. No problems of any kind. I went back to the original project and the problem continues.

So there is a workaround if needed. I can capture into another project and then go to the bin in that project.

Maybe someday I’ll figure out what’s going on.

Thanks to all for the help.
