All connections are 10 gigabit ethernet – we are able to hold our media on that drive and we get playback of 1080p 25fps footage fine from it.
We are currently working from Resolves “Local Database” that comes in the ProgramData/Blackmagic Design folder. Performance from this database is fine – it also says it is a DISK database so I am unsure of what is going on.
I have not looked into the postgres database, is that held in a folder structure similar to the DISK database?

If outputting through Resolve is your priority then I believe the only way of successfully doing this is to video mixdown those clips.
Resolve seems to have issues with reading AAF animated resizes but I have heard success of people importing the AAF into FCP or Premiere and exporting an XML containing the keyframes and then linking media to the Avid MXF Files using reel names and ToD TC
I have personally never tried this though sorry

If the resize is supported then it is a simple process of selecting the clip r-click, “Use Sizing Information from AAF” turned on.
If this doesn’t bring across the animated resize then you will have to export the footage or Video Mixdown to bake the Effect into the clip (if someone knows an easier way to do it than this I am all ears – it is really inconvenient)

One possibility (if they keep tc and reel identical) would be to colortrace the shot. This would copy keyframes etc.
That being said you may just be able to remove the uncompressed file and add the r3d file and it may relink automatically.

I would recommend doing this via the track graph and animation on/off at the start/end of each scene.
I grade 5 30 minute television episodes a week (using groups) and unless they are grouped before the grade and have exactly the same grade on them we have had many issues with it overwriting nodes in the tree on random clips.
It becomes very difficult and unwieldy to do this and entire scene changes I have found it much easier to do this via the track

It will show animated resizes but it won’t allow you to take them off. When importing the AAF there is a setting “Use sizing information from AAF” (Or something very similar to this).
It won’t bake them into footage unless you do a target render though. Any resizes done in Resolve will be baked in for a source render as well.
The only image manip that I have come across that doesn’t work is Flop

Clicking and dragging on the viewer should allow you to move the point of the wipe

In the node graph you can move to the track tab.
Anything added in this node graph will persist across all shots in that timeline. It won’t effect any clips on other timelines either.
This is what I use to apply something across an entire episode, such as a saturation increase or similar.

Avid had a process called “Consolidating”
This moves all media used by a particular timeline to a location specified by the user (can be placed outside of Avid MediaFiles/MXF/ but still wont index)
This can be done with adding handles to footage, copying media, moving media, etc. I am not sure if this can be done across an entire bin but I would imagine so.
If you use the r-click export functions it allows for placement anywhere rather than the consolidate/transcode option in the menu bar (Which I have never used so may also give the options)

The Wacom Intuos Utility allows custom mapping of the Express Keys.
On Windows it installs as “Wacom Tablet Properties” and on OSX it appears in the System Preferences along the bottom section I believe.The hotkey for disable all is the Down Arrow Key (I believe, might be Up).
Just go into the Wacom Tablet Properties and set whichever Express Key desired to a “keystroke” and then hit the keys you want.
