Avid to DaVinci Resize success
Has anyone had success sending an Avid sequence to DaVinci with clips that have a Resize filter with keyframes. I tested one song from a concert I am cutting which has numerous shots with animating Resize FX (to add camera movement where there was none). I was successful getting the Avid sequence into the DaVinci but the Resize and keyframes did not come across. I tried various settings in the DaVinci (clicked Use Sizing Information) but no luck. I realize that if I roundtrip back to the Avid, the Resize FX will be there but I plan on outputting straight from the DaVinci (DPX) and not going back to Avid.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

If outputting through Resolve is your priority then I believe the only way of successfully doing this is to video mixdown those clips.
Resolve seems to have issues with reading AAF animated resizes but I have heard success of people importing the AAF into FCP or Premiere and exporting an XML containing the keyframes and then linking media to the Avid MXF Files using reel names and ToD TC
I have personally never tried this though sorry

The issue with avid resizes seems to have something to do with the mixed frame rate function, basically when dealing with an AAF, if resolve finds speed data (like you see with mixed frame rates) it ignores the sizing data. Work around is to have a sequence in avid without mixed format or speed effects, and send that to resolve, with the config already set to the correct frame rate, and the “mixed resolution” check box unchecked. Then resolve will notice and respect the input sizing information, provided you enable the “use input sizing” option,

Thanks for the input. The project I am working on does not have mixed frame rates. Every clip is 23.98. I realize I can do a video mixdown, I feel that the scaling quality of the DaVinci is superior to the Avid which is why I want to get this Resize data into Resolve. I am thinking I might need to recreate each resize in the DaVinci, which would not be the worst thing but definitely add some time to the finishing stage.

When you imported the AAF or media, did you have “handle mixed framerates” enabled? If so, try recreating the project with it disabled. Also be sure to check “use input sizing” in AAF import.

Looks like it is working. One of the things that confused me was that I was expecting to see the resize data and keyframes in the Sizing tab but I called tech support and the resizing from the AAF is applied prior to that so you will see the result but will not see the data.

So that’s to say that you exported the AAF from Avid after you relinked to the original material?
And the sizing and timewarp was respected? Maybe it won’t do it when it’s both things at once or two things at once. What about stuff like Flop image?
I am doing the same thing. Need to finish it in Davinci Resolve.
