    Hi Dave,

Count me in for the test i suppose, my only concern would be power drain of the 1gb dual dvi vs. what i have? I also have your flashed 470 and a mac 285 if you had any interest. I will email you with my address and info.
    Thank you
    Colin

    hi margus
i agree completely. i have brightness down to 0 and its not as dim as the acd 23″ so i may actually reconsider what to use for GUI – not a fan of glossy however.

One thing to point out as I recently had this issue with an editor is that if you don’t render it all at once save the project and THEN export the xml you will have problems back in FCP..my example is from a scarlett / epic job where i had two separate resolutions to render out and so i rendered individual shots or bunches switching project settings accordingly to what resolution was native for each r3d clip in the edit – huge pain but even worse was that the xml only connected to a few shots because i did not create the xml after doing one big render and save of the project before creating – i would really like to see a ‘render in native resolution’ option for mixed format timelines where for example an AE artist needs each full resolution plate to work with and not necessarily what the project is set to..BMD’s fix for the xml was for me to just do a render at 1080 at like low debayer and then create xml just to get a working xml of the entire timeline?

    Yes.

This is not news..for a couple months this has been an available option with the newest nvidia drivers on Lion – make sure the rest of your system is up to spec however.

Its actually the 3GB GTX580 which i purchased, along with the appropriate adapter cable.

A clean Snow leopard install on the SSD and then an update to Lion w/ the latest Nvidia drivers is necessary for this card to work on a MacPro at least from what I understand as of this week. I am able to render 5K HDR, albeit not in any way fast render times w/out an expander, RedRockets & multiple GPU..but hey it works as opposed to the gtx285 or 470(flashed) which did not.

I upgraded to Lion in order to put in a 580 standard Newegg card along with my 120 things work well now for rendering beyond 2K.

There is a DaVinci Light forum on the Cow – please post this question in that section and include A LOT more detail and a screen grab of your render settings as Juan suggested.
