This actually brings up a feature request – to be able to select more than one drive for Resolve to look at when importing xml – i dont want to clog up my media pool with all of the media just what is in the xml i am importing but alas i can only select one location at a time is seems still and then whatever clips are on the other drive i have to manually add into the media pool to reconnect – would love to just be able to select more than what location when doing this..

I would also love to be able to remove clips fro media pool which are not in any of my timelines just to clean up the media pool after difficult conforms – so that only what i need is in there besides of course offline ref qt’s, external mattes, etc.

I have actually noticed the same thing on this first V9 project I worked on yesterday.

  • Hey Chris just reading this thread and I am curious how best to efficiently trim down r3d’s in V9 and also how best to suggest editors passing off files to me for resolve to do so in Redcine. I want to be able to tell an editor across the country how best to trim r3d’s along with xml and reference quicktime for ingest into Resolve but I also want a good workflow for doing the same thing on my end in DaVinci.

    Thank you

  • I have to say I have personally have had pretty consistent tech support from Dwaine, and he has been there in a pinch on big jobs when something is not functioning as it should and I am bugging out! While they don’t always have an answer immediately they have been really patient with me and usually get back with a response when possible. Considering other software companies require you to pay for that type of tech support its hard to justify a complaint – in fact if it was reasonably priced I would pay an annual contract fee for 24hr in-depth tech support for DaVinci just so I would have that option if it was after hours and I was having some crazy issue on an important deadline driven top-tier project.

While we are on the keyframe subject, I do have my own keyframe request which is to be able to paste attributes from one keyframe to another – I have not gotten very deep into V9 as I have been in the middle of a few jobs on V8.2 in the last few weeks and was not a beta tester BUT if this is not a new feature in V9 I hope it will be eventually or maybe someone can better direct me in a way to do this.

That is, if I have heavily keyframed a custom curve for example around a subject moving so much that a track wont do with a holdout matte as its function or just limiting the effect to the inside or outside of the keyframed shape and THEN a change needs to be made in the color adjustment or whatever parameter I want to be able to paste attributes (like in fcp7) and chose which attribute to paste and which to ignore – SO if the shape is fine its just that the subject within the shape needs to be slightly darker i don’t want to have to adjust each keyframe manually but instead just paste attributes from that one newly adjusted keyframe. Hopefully that makes sense?

If there is an easier solution or this has already been implemented in V9 I apologize for this post!

    Thank you

    UPDATE:

The card sent from macvidcards was apparently the problem – did not work on the macpro 3.1 OR my 5,1 12-core what does work on both systems is my own Mac stock GT120 (grey), not sure if it was a bad card we got or what but curious to know if those dual-dvi 120 cards actually work on 10.7?!

Maybe it was just a bad card..

I never got the CineStyle LUT to work in resolve – did you and if so can you link to a download?

  • I am actually now curious if i could replace my 120 with a 4000 or would the power drain be too much on the system based on my specs listed below?

I have a 12-core 5,1 MacPro but the cords fit in and the door shuts fine so I am not really sure without a picture what the problem is with your setup. Maybe the cords are too long?

  • Hey Diego,

I am asking $300 for the 470 Dave P flashed for mac card. I have not tried to utilize the GPU accelerated stuff with the Adobe CS suite – definitely hope in CS6 it will just see my GPU only card even though monitors are not attached to it!
