[Donato M. Rondinelli] “She’ll probably have to hire someone over there to re-shoot and she’s already over budget because they overcharged her for the shoot. They seen her coming a mile away! “
Sorry to hear that. Too bad the plugin wouldn’t save the sound for you.
Hopefully it all comes together for you!Colin McQuillan

[walter biscardi] “there’s definitely some issues out there with folks having no clue what they are doing with a/v equipment. “
You’ve got that right! I also work as a camera op and have caught quite a few “sound guys” only monitoring from their mixer and not the camera output…

Sorry to hear that! Guess if the audio is too far gone, it’s gone…
Out of curiosity what happened to the audio? Line feed into a mic level input, or just recorded too hot?

A single e-Sata disk sure, but the poster was talking about a RAID, not a single disk….

Like Shane said, best done in camera with a good lens and a camera with 2/3’s inch chips.
However, you can achieve adequate and/or interesting stylized results with masks (multiple masks, each with a different strength of blur to add depth and distance) I would not think of doing this in FCP though. You would need to send the footage to After Effects or Motion to get acceptable results.

[Raymond Tuquero] “in the future I would recommend the Raid via Fibre Channel or using internal HardDrives”
A fiber RAID definitely, But why would you recommend an internal hardrive over an e-Sata RAID?
A G-Speed eS RAID 5 or the like is far faster and more secure than an internal drive.

November 30, 2009 at 11:21 pm in reply to: Europe vs USA- Can my FCP system deal with NTSC footage ?I’ve worked on a few projects in the opposite direction (Shot/edited here in North America and sent to PAL markets for broadcast) We used all PAL equipment and had no issues at all. (like Dave says stay clear of fluorescent lighting in or around your framing.)
Your computer/software will have no trouble working with NTSC footage, Your computer displays will also work fine. As Mentioned above you will need a multi-format display capable of NTCS if you want to externally monitor what you are working on.
Most new HD cameras can be switched between PAL and NTSC, but older digibeta Cameras will either be PAL or NTSC. Be sure your local rental house carries NTCS cameras and decks if you choose to work with tape.

If the clipped audio is mission critical have a look at this:
https://www.izotope.com/products/audio/rx/I’ve seen it bring awful clipped recordings back to life.

In compressor use find “Apple Prores for Progressive material” (non-HQ)
Other Workflows -> Advanced Format Conversions -> Apple Codecs -> Apple Prores for Progressive material
By default it will set the export display bounds and frame rate to that of the source material so nothing to change here unless you want to change the video settings from”current” to 29.97.
As Rafael suggests you my find changing the frame rate using Cinema tools better.
