Actually, it could be the drive your capturing too. I don’t remember the technical points, but if the hard drive you’re capturing too is formated a certain way, it will have a restriction of how big the file sizes can be. So, it may be formatted this way and because the clip is so big, it’s exceeding the size restriction. If you could set the in and out points, you’d be able to pull it in in two separate clips. Other than that, try setting another drive as your scratch disk.
Someone else will have to tell you which hard drive formats have the size restrictions…or just search for it, I come across it pretty regularly here in the forums. Once you’re done with this project, you can reformat your drives so you won’t have this problem again. But wait until you’re done because it will erase the drive.

Ok, I found out they use XD CAM so I just exported it as XD CAM HD 422. Seems to have worked well.

August 12, 2009 at 9:40 pm in reply to: Feathering edges without feathering edges that touch the edge of the screenA round about way to do this is, duplicate the shot of the woman, and stack the duplicate directly on top of the original. Then Feather the duplicate that is on top and don’t feather the original on the bottom. Then you can just right crop the original over past the edge you want feathered, this will hide the hard edge of the original and leave the feathered edge of the duplicate showing. Then, as you’re subject moves off screen, you’ll just have to key frame your crop to follow.
Hope that made sense.

In the log and transfer window you can set in and outs and import only what you’ve selected. Be sure to check that you don’t have an in and out selected.
The only time I’ve ever had this problem was when I was importing RED footage. While it was importing, I was trying to organize footage that I had already pulled in. Apparently L and T doesn’t like this because it was pulling in several of the clips just like your situation – it wasn’t pulling in the full clip. Finally, I started the Log and Transfer and sat back, didn’t touch the computer until it was done. This worked for every clip I had trouble with. So, you may want to give that a shot.

You can look under Tools, go the the Render Manager, and delete the render files from a particular sequence. You may give this a try and see if it helps. Once you’ve removed all the renders, you may lose some work, but you may be able to set your sequence settings back to normal. Not sure if it will work, but worth a try. Might wanna duplicate that sequence and try it on the Copy so you don’t mess anything up.

I don’t think so…but one thing you could do is once you’ve done your color correction, drag it to a bin in the browser window, this will save your effect there. Then you can just ‘Apple Z’ back to before you added the affect. This isn’t exactly what your looking for but maybe something close.

I don’t know…that’s strange. I typically just export a quicktime and then make my .flv in CS3 Flash encoder. It’s an extra step, but it doesn’t give me any problems and gives a good output.

Also, be sure to your frame offset. Go to Final Cut/System settings/ playback control…there you’ll see the ‘Frame Offset’, make sure it is set to ‘0’.
Is it still out of sync when you export it out of final cut?

I know man, I guess it’s about time to just upgrade to the big cards. This thing wasn’t that important, but next time it may be…
