  • I know I’m kind of bringing up an old post, but I found this after doing a search. I’m having the same problem here, and I tried you’re suggestion but it won’t allow me to right click on any of the archives. Any thoughts?

    I’m running BRU Pe – BRU 17.1.0

    Thanks,

I didn’t know what forma the camera mentioned shot in. If it shoots in AVCHD, then it should be as easy as a Log and Transfer, right?

And thanks for the clarification on the RAW format.

If you’re going to be handling the online edit, and finishing out the project, then you’ll probably want the RAW files to make sure you end up with the best quality possible. RAW files are basically uncompressed files. You’ll probably have to convert them to a codec that Final Cut can edit. And I’d let them send it on hardrives. That just saves you from having to ingest the footage. You can just work off the drives they send. But be sure to back-up regularly. We all know how easily a drive can crash on you. And make sure they keep a copy of all the footage in case something happens to yours. Another good practice is email the FCP project file to yourself at the end of every day.

When I’m uploading to Vimeo, as long as the video isn’t really long, I just export an H.264 quicktime and upload that. Usually looks great. Just open the reference video in quicktime and go to File~Export – then set your compression to H.264, quality at High, the under size, just use current settings. Then you can upload that quicktime to vimeo. I do it weekly.

We have a G4 we use for printing labels and stuff. We also use it for archiving of old footage. We have file maker pro setup on it and we log everything that goes in our tape room so we can get to it quickly if we ever need to.

One thing you can always do with these type of cameras is to lay it off to tape and the digitize…

Thanks for the responses guys. I’ll definitely see if I can find an older version of the AVID codecs. But what I ended up doing was send an uncompressed quicktime. It was big, but it got the job done.

    Thanks,

I tried downloaded the DNxHD, but it won’t install because I’m running Tiger, not Leopard.

The guy is working on AVID Media Composer 3.0.5

    Figured that info might help.
