From you explanation it sounds like Toast is normalizing your audio. I personally haven’t used Toast for burning DVDs. I just use DVD Studio Pro. I would check your settings in Toast…maybe there is a preference in there that is normalizing all audio to a certain level.

What kind of media are you working with? I typically shoot P2 and when I bring the clips in via log and transfer, I only choose the clips I would be working with that are good. If I need extra, I go back and import the extra.
I suppose you could go to each clip, reveal it in the finder, open up quicktime and trim the excess. I never done this, and it sounds dangerous, but that’s all I can think of.
Are you running out of disk space?

You’re correct, if you want the marker to become permanent it needs to be applied to the master clip. You would normally load that into the viewer and place your marker there. In your case, when you need to mark you could hit F to match frame and reveal the master clip in the viewer and place your marker there. It won’t update in the timeline for the clip in your timeline, but the marker will be there for later when you assemble your video in a new sequence.

You could use the effect mask shape, create your circle for the background and keyframe that for your transition…just a thought.

If I remember correctly, Media Manager will create a folder for video, audio, and graphics. It will create the main folder where you specify in the browser. If you already have 90% of your media on the portable hard drive, why not manually move over the other 10%?

Media Manager is the way to go.
In the media manager dialog box, click the drop down and just do a copy. Make the Media Destination your portable hard drive. If you don’t want a new project file, uncheck “deplicate selected items and place into a new project” Also, if you want to keep you render files, make sure to check “include render files”. That should work for you.
