March 9, 2006 at 9:57 pm in reply to: EDL won’t give me multiple video tracks

Read The FCP Manual. Volume One. Chapter 17 “Exporting Edit Decision Lists (EDLs) and Batch Lists”

    Here’s What Gives…
“A superimposed video track, or any track other than V1, is called a key track in an EDL. Only
one key track can be in an EDL, so information for V1 and V2 tracks only appears in an
    exported EDL. ”

Meaning you have to export separate EDLs for each added track.
The EDL format was set up in the 1970’s as a means of saving, well, Edit Decisions, on linear edit controlers.
The ability to stack more than a background and a key track was not anticipated nor built into it, that was pretty much all you needed.

Video playing OK w Flash 8 plug on Safari (except for the “Media Offline” frame at the end fadeout), but the audio is horribly distorted, overdriven and broken up so as to not be understandable (the pauses are clear and quiet though).

What OS and what Safari version?
Go to Safari Preferencs>Security. UNcheck the “Enable Javascript” box. See what happens.

Alternatively, use Firefox or Camino to access the site instead of Safari.

Safari bookmarks and History are in directory ~(user)/Library/Safari. Back up that folder, your “User” folder, or preferably, the whole drive, to be safe.

On a scene transition, create the effect you wish to use with the Effects Editor. Once it’s to your liking, drag the icon in the upper right of the editor box into a bin. You can even give it a useful name. Select the multiple scene transitions as you would do to apply multiple dissolves (shift-click, lasso). Double-cliek the effect you saved to the bin. Joy.

Go to your main menubar in Finder, select “Help.”
When Mac Help window appears, Enter “screen shot” in the search bar.
You will be presented with a number of choices and methods for doing what you want (grab screen, a window, a menu, etc.).

Use the available Mac Help feature on your computer and also apple.com/support for answers to basic questions.
If neither of those resources serve up a useful answer, then come on over to the COW.
