  • OS10.4.4 is making me log in on startup – how to do auto login?

Posted by Keith Mann on February 13, 2006 at 4:50 pm

This is driving us nuts. Everytime we start up in 10.4.4, the startup stops and promps us to manually login.

    This never happened before.

How do we set it to auto login?

    Thanks in advance,

In the system Preferences, go to Accounts. You proabably need to click the lock at the bottom and enter your password, then you can click on the little house that says “Login Options.”

You should find what you need in there.

    System Preferences>Accounts.
Click the lower left Lock to make changes, use an Admin password to continue.
Click “Login Options” box in left hand Account names window. A list of options will appear on right.
Checkbox next to “Automatically log in as: [select user name from pulldown]”
While there, see if any other Login Options need to be checked or unchecked.

    thank you,

We knew it had to be something simple, but since we never use accounts, we were clueless,

    again, thanks!
