    Thanks for the replies!

    I’m currently running 2 Viewsonic model G810.
They have served me well for years and still look great to me.
I use them for everything…internet, office, photoshop, vegas editing, and watching a ton of web videos on youtube, hulu, netfix, etc.

I was just thinking it might be beneficial to edit on the same kind on monitor my audience would watch my videos on…

    Thanks!

I’ve heard most folks slow down their gopro footage 50% – 80% so kudos on your piloting skills!

Clip looks great! I’d appreciate any tips I can use for my uploads, like your render settings, etc…

    Thanks!

    Hey Roger…Love the video man!

Can u tell us more about your workflow to getting that video to look that smooth? For instance…

    Q1…Was the camera set for 1080p 60fps?

Q2…What software made the intermediate avi files?

Q2…What were your project settings in Vegas Pro?

Q4…How much did you slow down the footage?

Thanks so much and keep up the good work!

This work flow has worked well for me.

DVR Analog out > Camcorder with pass thru > Firewire into PC.

Vegas will capture as DV-AVI files. Hard drive space needed is approx 14GB per hour of footage.
Just make sure to turn off device control in preferences.

On my wish list is to replace my Sony Digital8 cam with a Canopus ADVC-300. I hear it has a TBC. Does anyone know that for sure.

August 24, 2010 at 12:17 am in reply to: Canon HF21 import / capture problem

    Update…
I picked up the operation manual and OEM Canon software and installed the “transfer utilities”. The cam was still not recognized.

The workflow of copying internally up to 8GB of files using the cam and then copying them to my PC never worked. I formatted the card in the cam and the files would play in the canon cam but when I put the card in my USB adaptor my PC says there is an I/O error.

I was at the end of my rope about to install the canon software in a different editing PC and then I thought why not try a different USB cable. It worked!!!
Seems the client gave me a defective USB cable when he dropped off the camera and wall power cord.
I cannot believe I wasted several hours today because of a bad USB cable.

    Now the fun part…
How do I import these mts files into Vegas and make this client some web videos?
What project properties should I start with?
What do I “render as” so he can link to these on youtube?

    Thanks!

There is no manual there that I see…only product brochures.

Can you find a direct link to an operation manual for this cam?
I’ve spent a couple hours looking.

    Thanks!

    Hey Mike,

    Thanks for the quick response!

I’ve been asked to do this because of time and money.
The original editor wants like 12 hours pay to do this and they are on the west coast.
The client wants this done fast and they are here in Florida with me.
If they have a large avi file they can get it to me via You Send It.

My biggest concern in using their DVD is how big a quality hit are we talking about?
I do not want this looking fuzzy on a 42″ LCD at a show.

    Thanks!

    John, you are THE MAN!
Thanks for all your help and the well written tutorial.
I followed it and I’ve created a DVD to function the way I wanted.

Before you replied I tried a different fix….
I changed my button to text only and made it really small and placed it off screen. DVDA gave me a warning when I went to burn but I ignored it.
Then I can press enter anytime I want to play my main video.

I like your way much better.

    Thanks again!

    Thanks John!

How do I insert an invisable empty button onto my menu and link it to my main video?
I’m a little dense so could you explain it step by step?

    Hey Mike,

“Flatten” did the trick. I don’t understand why that is unnecessary on an xls Excel file.

This is way better than using a scanned item.

    Thanks again!
