Ae’s tracking is pretty poor and would probably be just as slow as rotoring this complex stuff anyway. I would look at sub-pixel movement of 3-D animation, a 1 pixel move might be too jumpy.
If you have time, use Monet. It has a tutorial right on their website with this exact scenario, to replace a foreign pill bottle logo with a new one; blurring, rotating, transforming, no problem for planar tracking.

that’s very esoteric, i would google the error code, disable opengl and multi proc render and use uncompressed output. Although at the top of my head, sounds like a resolution error because the codec doesn’t support the non-multiple of 8,16,32 or alpha channel.

You probably don’t have the amazing color management on. It’s just like if you import a SD NTSC from premiere into AF, it’s all dark until you change to file->project settings, SD color management. Same thing with Quicktime. Quicktime’s player is a lil wonky cuz its gamma is set really high, that is why AE is clipping, AE doesn’t interpret the gamma curve the same way. You have to tell it how to preset gamma.

Thank you for your opinion. As to the right software, it comes down to what your workflow is and if you have a team or just yourself and a 3 hour deadline. I am not saying that primatte is better than keylight in a perfect situation, but if a client shot something wrong and needs it fixed, am I going to use primatte or keylight? Keylight works for well shot projects. I mean, they use it for blockbusters such as Harry Potter. They use complicated multi mattes and so on. Keylight is a workhorse, but a 6 team workhorse that needs a perfectly lit room. In my opinion, an editor will pull less hair out and smile more with primatte.

Yep, its the color managemnt difference of difference codecs. You need to re-capture with an exact codec that both Kona and AE have. It needs to be perfectly exact.

small fonts get ripped apart, use large, broader fonts that aren’t skinny and wimpy.
less saturation
use fast blur 5%
