“It is completely loss-less so you keep every tiny detail from your original comp.”

from my tests, EXR with no compression still gives a single digit change in renders on individual pixels, very, very small but not mathematically perfect.

too bad ae doesn’t natively support color density solids, 3 strip technicolor, skin and background separation. you need a bunch of layers or an expensive plugin. color finesse hasn’t changed in 10 years. Try speedgrade which is part of adobe, or davinci or lustre because you’re gonna get disappointed really really fast if you use AE’s hue control, just say’n. and what is up with channel mixer only being 16bpc….wow.

    *sigh*

you’re way overthinking it. Put a harness of some sort under their clothes with a cable out their back, then put the camera facing the actor. No rotoscoping required. Also, this reference point creates an easy cgi plate. There’s no complicated perspective.

btw, you’ll need at least 3 people to pull them back if you want a good pull.

Practial ALWAYS lookes better. A good example, the new star wars movies. The force jump wasn’t even done with trampolines. 4 guys held a 2×4 and lifted as fast as possible. That’s with a billion dollar budget too.

  • if your mouse software doesn’t support it, you can still create a custom keyboard shortcut then map it to the mouse buttons/scroll wheel with the easy to use autohotkey. it would send a fake keyboard command when you use your mouse.

  • actually broadcast colors would need to be layered as two effects, one as luminance, the other as saturation.

also, color finesse has a smart limiter that smoothly transitions to safe without a chop block method. Also, a master reduction in saturation might end up looking washed out. If you are going for the manual method, at least create a luma transfer matte for the color so it reduces the saturation geometrically.

the only un-blur way I know of is reelsmart motion blur set at negative value -2. And its definitely far from perfect.

the shutter was set too low. it’s all about relative motion. if the camera was on a dolly or steadycam, if x is framerate, you could get away with 1/2x shutter speed. But since it was handheld, you need 1/3x or 1/4x shutter speed which computes out to around 1/100 – 1/120th dslr speed. there’s actual panning speed guide books too, no kidding.
