Fill Light Tool for Video?
Hi!
I’ve been looking all around for a plugin or effect that will brighten up the dark spots of my footage. I know this can be done in Lightroom and with RAW images through the “fill light” tool, but I want to know if there’s something out there that does the same thing to video. I’ve tried some HDR filters but those end up in the picture looking very unnatural. Are there any plugins out there for After Effects of Premiere?

Premiere has “Lighting Effects”. Do a search for ‘lighting’ in the Effects.

If you’re just looking to lift the shadows, try the Curves effect.

If you do this kind of correction is recommended to do in 32bit project because of the limited dynamic range of the video footage you can get very ugly banding effect in 8bit and even 16. Better is to set the project in 32bit and use a levels effect. Left slider is the shadows(drag to the right if you need to brighten the image), middle is the mids, right is the highlights. Just play with them until you get your look.
