I had not thought of it like that.
If I create a video file with the timecode as the picture and the soundtrack is the music, I suppose I have what I need. On top of being simple to do and reliable, most video players like VLC can play at sped up speeds, so I can quite easily do in-sync slow motion shots.

Thank you both for the advice. I did not see anything on portable PCs on the BM site but if I only need a decent CUDA validated card and a 1920 screen, I have plenty of choice.

In the end a BM analog -Sdi converter does the trick fine. Interestingly, I put a pal 3d bluray in the player. It threw out a 576 60i signal. The Aja did not much care for the signal (actually this detail is not very interesting at al!)

Hmmm. I have loads of personal dvds that I wanted to digitize. That sucks. So I suppose this input can be used with a camera?

I was hoping for something a little more precise, using the in and out points and track specification. My test shows that only highlighting the timeline elements and copy / paste works, which means I have to then cut off the excess media.
I have never understood why nested editing is so good. I would have thought that having the elements unnested would be, in general, much more logical and precise, both for the editor and the machine.
