Also, you have to make sure to install the BMD driver AFTER installing APP. This is true even if you ALREADY had the BMD card running with FCP.
Then, Yes, under create new sequence you will the BMD presets. You have to use one of those to use the card I/O’s.

There are a couple flavors of DVCPRO;
DVCPRO – which is SD, like DVCAM and DV.
DVCPRO50 – which is SD and similar in quality to Digibeta.DVCPROHD (or DVCPRO100) is High Definition.
You can shoot only SD to the Tape in your camera.
You can shoot SD or HD to the P2 cards.You need a P2 driver for your computer to recognize the cards.

You can create AVCHD Discs on 4.7GB DVD-R’s that will play in some Gaming consoles and some DVD Players. You cannot burn a Bluray compliant files on to a SD DVD.
Is your footage HD at the start?
Export out of APP sending it to AME and choose the DVD mpeg2 preset, alter it as needed. Shows you the est. file size at the bottom as you adjust the data rate.

Nesting is not the way to go.
SD-DVD will Never look as good as HD. Sadly, until all our clients have Bluray players everywhere, we have to live with this.
Now, Shoot HD Progressive, Edit HD Progressive.
Export from APP sequence – sending it to queue to render out in AME choose the DVD mpeg2 preset, modify the settings, save your own preset.Keep it progressive.
Up the data rate.
Quality and length of video will affect the outcome here, a 2 hour and 20 min. video just isn’t going to look great on a single sided SD-DVD.
But even a 10min. video encoded at the highest data rate, gong from HD to SD, you’re going to have some aliasing.JMO, YMMV.

ProRes 4444 is overkill.
Use Prores 422 or 422HQ.
Only Use the ProRes 4444 codec for your alpha channel stuff.Chris Tompkins
