When you double click an existing title in the sequence and it opens up, you click on the “New Title Based on Current title” icon see pic:

That will save as for you. Modify, close.

Then in the sequence, right click on the old tile you copied from before and replace from bin.
Is one way to do it.

  • Start with a 25p sequence, drop some 50i footage in there with the 25p footage, export a couple minutes to create a test DVD or bluray.

Then make a new sequence 50i, put some 50i footage in there and then add some 25p footage in there, export a couple minutes for a test.

Chances are one of them is going to look just fine for you.

I too, on occasion, have to mix i and p and it works out fine.
Only Deinterlace when compressing final master for web delivery or computer presentation.

You can fit 3 and 4 hours on a DVD if you want.
Like Rafael said, it’s a quality to volume ratio. The more you squeeze on the disc, the worse it looks.

Bring your FCP master into Compressor and choose the 2 hr DVD preset, adjust the data rate to make your long video fit.

Choose the Mpeg2 DVD preset when exporting.
Adjust data rate to maximize quality to space ratio.
When that is done, import the 2 files into Encore, set first play, test and burn.

  • Mark summed it up best +1 there.

Charge for the work of creating the disc. You got paid for editing (and shooting?) for the project already.

Bill hourly in the edit suite.
