Well, you could make all the media “off-line” and then choose to batch capture and change the settings or just change the cable on the mixer, etc.

Taking your video in by composite is the lowest quality route – FYI
Buy a deck and use component or SDI.
If the Decklink will be enough for u – get that one. Decklink and AJA r both reliable w/good support. -
I hear ya, who wouldn’t. Have u tried trashin prefs?
Creating a brand new proj. opening the old one and drag over the timeline into the new proj.?
Sometimes helps. -
I’ve had this b/4 on a troubled proj. I ended up rendering it a little bit at a time, peice by peice, like a giant elephant

Dropped frames would more likely have to do with your through-put speed. Hard drive speed.

The AJA IO LA has component out. So, you can feed it into any monitor that has a Component input.
Or composite or Y/C. -
Maybe the deck needs maintenance?

When u export make sure your settings are the same as your timeline (Current settings) I think it says. Make self contained.
Then as a test, re-import the clip and drop it into your timeline. I think u’ll find – no prob. QT can act weird with sizes, I find. -
Do u have Adobe PhotoShop? Take the file into PhotoShop and remove the white background. Save as a .PSD file and import into FCP
