How Do I Accomplish This?
Greeting All-
I have a client project that I’m doing (Talk Show for Web) and I’m having problems with creating a transparent “logo” as a permanent lower third. I accomplished this before…however I’ve been away from the cutting board for a moment. But anyway, the client sent the “logo” in a jpeg format (white background/black characters)…I would also like to have the logo appear throughout the duration of the sequence…Will this require a diffent file format (psd./ill.)? Could someone please lend a helping hand?

Do u have Adobe PhotoShop? Take the file into PhotoShop and remove the white background. Save as a .PSD file and import into FCP

Use the Luma Key and remove the White (or light) elements. Then drop the opacity of the overall element in the timeline to get the desired opacity.
In the Browser, change the Duration of the still to be as long as you need it to be. If your timeline is 10 minutes long, change the duration to 10:30 so you just need the one file instead of repeating it several times.

Another method:Try setting the Composite Mode to ‘Multiply’ then adjust the opacity to suit. (Setting the opacity to 25% is a good start – gets you in the ballpark …)
( ! Be aware that ‘Composite Mode’ values are not part of the Attributes for copy/paste purposes)
