If ur just going to SD anyway – I would bring in the HDV as SD. Do u have a deck? It will out put SD DV so will the camera I believe.
Playback SD and capture DV – edit DV

Use compressor and not DVDSP to make the mpeg files and you can dial in color/blacks/whites/contrast/etc…

You can adjust the data rate to make that file .50GB or 4.1GB
U have to duplicate the settings in compressor, make your own preset and adjust the settings.

Look into Episode – a great encoding software.
Export from FCP timeline Current setting making a ref movie file.
Drop that into encoding software and compress to what you need. You shouldn’t be losing sync.

It’s a film exposure/transfer kind of effect. Dissolve from grey to some moving colors to ur image – easy to fake.

When u import a QT into DVDSP it compresses the files for you. It makes the mpeg file necessary to create a DVD.

Look in your Apps prefs for the settings.

Although, a better route would be to output a ref file from FCP, drop that into compressor and create the mpeg file there as well as an ac3 audio file and import those into DVDSP.

DVD (not Blue-Ray) is only 720 X 480 – choosing any size larger will only degrade the image.

You will not benefit from the PRHQ as the color info is not there in the dvd file anyway. Anything over DV50 is wasted overkill when ripping a DVD. IMO
