  • Over-saturation when DVD played on T.V.

Posted by Hugh Fenton on July 22, 2010 at 9:20 am

    Hi guys,

I’ve recently shot a wedding film edited in final cut pro (HD 1080i 50), I exported “pro-res 1440 by 108050i.” Then used DVD studio pro to author the DVD. The dvd plays perfect on the computer, a little compressed, but the saturation is fine. On the T.V. however it plays very oversaturated, the whole film looks orange?

Does anyone know why this is?

    Regards, Hugh

It looks this way because you do not have a proper broadcast monitor hooked up to your system. You can not judge accurate color with your computer monitor.

Use compressor and not DVDSP to make the mpeg files and you can dial in color/blacks/whites/contrast/etc…

    Hi Chris,

sounds interesting, what do you mean by dial in the color settings?

You’re right about that, I’m going to purchase a monitor soon.
