How are you loading in the footage? Is it Via Firewire off the camera or from a deck? B/c that is a direct data transfer and there is NO image loss.

How r u viewing ur footage? On an external monitor? B/c The FCP canvas is Not the way to judge footage quality.

    What r u Exporting to?

Ya, in Compressor – change the 6.2 MB to a higher number. You have to duplicate the preset and rename it for urself. Change the frame control to best. Change the audio to -31 and compression none while ur at it.

Take the last good frame b/4 the glitch and duplicate it. OR just cut out the glitch frames. Or dissolve around them.

Ya, New FCP is the reason for upgrading.
I have the newest one on a MacBook Pro.
I want it on the Desktop.
My concern is that the Intel mac of a few years ago will run SLOWER on the Newer OS.
Has anyone upgraded an older Mac with OS 10.6 lately?

Drop a time-code filter on the clip in the timeline.
Choose “Time-Code Reader” and it will display in RT as it plays.

Output from ur timeline “current setting” (FCP) making a ref file.

Drop the ref file into compressor.

Modify data rate setting to maximize your program length to quality. Leave fields upper.

Bring mpeg clip into DVD program.

    Burn.
