Choppy Playback in Viewer!
Hey guys,
Here’s some of my Imac specs to help you out
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 3.06 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores:2
L2 Cache: 3 MB
Memory: 4 GB
Bus Speed: 1.07 GHzI’m running OSX 10.6.4
I’m pretty new to FCP. I just switched over from I-Movie to the newest version of Final Cut Studio (with FCP 7).
Basically what I’m making is a highlight video of my favorite MMA Fighter. There is not much quality footage of his fights online, so I’ve decided to rip some DVDs of his fights that I own and use those to edit with.
My problem: When I rip the DVD (using Handbrake) and import it into FCP7, it’s playback is very choppy in the viewer. So much so that it is basically un-editable.
Ive looked and looked all over the internet, and have discovered that my problem may be the fact that I’m using Handbrake (something to do with the H.264 video codec it uses).
So, does anybody have any suggestions for me as to what may be the problem, or as to what program I should switch to to solve the problem?I’ve tried compressing the Ripped files that Handbrake makes using FFmpegX and it does make the video editable and play smoothly in the playback, BUT the issue here is that it takes away from the quality. I cannot have that with this video I’m making, my goal is to keep the upmost quality possible. If anybody can help me with this it would be greatly appreciated!!
If you need more information for me please let me know! I’ve heard some suggestions with MPEG Streamclip, which I do have, but so far even converting it with that is still choppy 🙁
