If you are viewing this playing back on a computer screen – you will see the interlacing in interlaced footage.
How is the client going to use these files?
They wanted it interlaced…

The larger the CCD’s the better. But cams are transitioning to C-Mos chips so that’s different again.

A 2/3 CCD will yield far better images.

However, your question, Look into a Used HPX170 by Panasonic. This shoots a great 422 HD image.

If anyone plays the DVD on a computer they will see even more black around the edges. But for Tv’s – shrinking back your vid 10% wouldn’t be that bad. Some might see a little blk around the edges.

Are your trying to upconvert your SD material to HD?

Can you capture SD-DV.
Edit SD-DV.
THEN, Change your sequence to the DV50 codec? Or 8 bit Uncompressed.
Then Export Current settings.
I don’t use FCE, So I don’t know how much like FCP it is.

OR

Can you capture SD-DV.
Edit SD-DV.
Export finished edit using a better codec.

Then compress for dvd.

Sounds like you have a tiff sequence.
Set the “still image duration on import” to one frame and you can bring em all in and drop in the sequence.

The settings are:

Create a new sequence. Open the sequence settings b/4 putting anything in it and select your settings.

Did you transfer the Card files to the computer first? You shouldn’t L&T straight off the card.

Don’t deinterlace your footage, you’ll through away have your resolution.

60i does not look right on a computer monitor. View it on a Broadcast/video monitor and it will look great in 1080i.

H.264 is NOT an editing codec. You will experience probs. This is mentioned daily here. Yes, I know you had NO problems b/4 with it.

Convert your footage to a codec/format FCP plays nice with. If then, you still have probs then it’s probably that new HD install. But try a mov file ProRes.

View your footage properly on an ext. monitor and your footage will look correct.
