You can render out a digital master. Take that file to a post house and output to Digibeta.

Alt. you can borrow a friends DV camera and lay out to tape from your laptop via firewire.

How are you controlling the deck?

RS Cable?
Firewire?

What signal are you sending?

Firewire?
Component?
Composite?
Y/C?

Can you capture from the deck?
What is the settings of your sequence you are trying to print to tape?
Does FCP see the deck?

1080 is always 1080i
720 is always 720p
in their shell so to speak.

within 1080i you can have 1080i_24p or 1080i_30p for example.

Just setup a NEW sequence to the spec you want and do not worry.
You are dealing with stills and will want Progressive so set it up like the screen shot.

Ya, You shot 60p or 60i from the looks of the cam. Do you have frame rate options on the camera menu?
Drop the clip into a NEW sequence in FCP and let FCP choose the settings for you.
Don’t put the clip into a 25fps sequence.

Your Kona3 Cards will down-convert the HD sequence to an SD image on your CRT’s…
Works for editorial anyways.

When I first starting shooting HD I loved the idea of 30p, but not a fan of it anymore.

I prefer 1080i_60i
OR
720p_60P

I know what you mean. It can be confusing. Look @ what FCP’s browser labels it as.

29.97 fields = none.

When shooting in 1080i Modes the P clips are in a 1080i Wrapper or 29.97 stream if you will.
It’s still field dom. none.

Have you viewed it on an ext. video monitor?

30p It is progressive. Yes fields – None.

You can shoot 1080i_30p or 1080i_24p

or
1080i_60i for interlaced.
