Hey Jeremy,

I don’t think my Power PC G5 can do that, or is that something I can after 6.0.2? As I recall you need an Intel machine or an IOHD to do that, no?

If I understand your setup, why such a confusing scheme with only one computer?

Sounds like you need to read the posts on RAID in the archives, there are hundreds. What you need is some kind of RAID 5 and a few FW drives for backup, keep it simple.

I feel your pain, what a drag, hope everything turns out okay. And no, I wasn’t using and never would use HDV footage to composite with, in any app. I use 8 bit or ProRes.

I use the Lyric plug too, but it takes a bit of time to render. Fotomagico is very fast.

Go ahead and check out Motion, but take a look at Fotomagico too. I compared it with Moving Picture a few years back, FM won hands down.

You can take Michael’s method further by adding a slight blur to the top layer and changing the blend mode to screen or whatever looks cool to you. But I use the Nattress filters with great success.

Also,IMO the number one and two things that influence a film look are lighting and frame rate, 24p and 30p can help.

There are TONS of posts in here about film looks, do a search.

Assuming you are rendering out of AE in an uncompressed codec, playing in DV will usually look like crap. When your edit is all done, change the compressor of the sequence to 8 bit and render. You won’t be able to see it in real time over FireWire, but movies you spit out will look great.

The noise reduction in After Effects is quite good, I’ll bet the one from revision is great too, but next time check the gain controls on the camera.

I never use the Auto Gain Control, and make sure the other switch is set to low.
