I have completed a music video shooting with a Sony PD170. The edit is complete and I have made a SD DVD. I sent the cut out as QT file using the same settings as the sequence, then went to Compressor and exported it out for DVD using the standard settings for a SD Pal DVD. Everything looks good but it looks like a video. Is there anyway I can give this video more of a “film look”?

That is one option. Search the forum for a slew of others, as this question comes up very often.

Nest the sequence, and copy it on the timeline so one is on top of the other. Deinterlace both, but select different fields in the filters tab for each one, and adjust the transparency of the nested sequence on top. As good (if not better) than any filter out there.

You can take Michael’s method further by adding a slight blur to the top layer and changing the blend mode to screen or whatever looks cool to you. But I use the Nattress filters with great success.

Also,IMO the number one and two things that influence a film look are lighting and frame rate, 24p and 30p can help.

There are TONS of posts in here about film looks, do a search.

    Have a wonderful day.
