Sure, you can’t go wrong with Animation, but I also use uncompressed 8 bit, as that’s what I mostly work in.

    Hey Scott,

I saw that tab also, but I just tried it and QT can’t open the resulting file.

Cleaner will do a muxed file, as will Compression Master 3 and Squeeze Suite 4.1.

    Scott,

I don’t think it does natively, but I’m pretty sure you can create a preset that would do this. There was aa big disscussion on adding presets a couple of months ago.

    Peter,

There’s a very poowerful plugin in After Effects called Shatter. There’s also a Shatter plugin for FCP from CHV.

    Marni,

I make my stills usually no larger than 20″ wide at 72 dpi. And tell the photographer that the blur will be fine.

    Doug,

Select all your clips and go to sequence>render all>mixdown. I’ve never used Express but I gotta believe it’s in there.

In FCP this works 9 times out of 10.

Arnie’s advice should work, but I find sometimes that if an image is too big, it can add to this problem, especially if you scale it way down or move it rapidly.

As a rule I make all my stills no bigger than they absolutely need to be for scaling or pan and scan.

    Scott,

Try doing this with DH Box from Digital Heaven, only 10 bucks.

Or, make sure the clip stays on even scan lines, and put the flicker filter on it set to max. If that doesn’t work, add a little (.5) gaussian blur.
