Practically none of FCPs audio filters are worth a crap, especially the de-esser. For De-essing, I’ve had much better luck with the low pass filter. Does a pretty good job and MUCH easier than the de-esser.

Hey Jim,
Correct me if I’m wrong, but you would have to make the page peel transitions less than two frames each, no? These things would just go by at a blur. I wonder what he ended up with?

There’s a pretty good tutorial in Kevin Monihan’s book which is similar to what Walt described.
There are a couple of plugins which do a volumetric light in After Effects, one is in Prime, http://www.digitaltrove.com, the other is called Lux at trapcode.com

Hey there,
I’m not sure what’s going on there, but since I have upgraded to Photoshop CS I have had similar failures with 32 bit Targa files.
My workarond that is actually a bit more flexible than making all individual files is to just load Photoshop files as sequences, and then copy and paste the layers into my main sequence, and they allways have transparency. Saves time, plus I’ve got all the layers in one convenient place.

I did a totally clean install, and according to Ken Stone, Apple removed the mpeg2 component from QT 7. Just relaying what I see in my computer and what I heard from Ken.

That’s because our fine friends at Apple have removed it, because they want us to use Compressor.

Hey Don,
Well it does use software, but there doesn’t seem to be a prefs file in the regular prefs folder. Anyways, I fiddled around with it’s control panel and did a restart, and I got it working again.
