Right or wrong, I went out this afternoon and bought a Horita Black burst generator. This has never been about money to me, I just want my system to be simple, since I am not an engineer. Now I’m trying to get the thing to work, and my guy where I bought it says to just plug it into my Beta deck and forget it, but my FCP sequence is playing with all kinds of black crap on it, color is gone, and I’m just as much or more at a loss as before. This is really fu**ed. Sorry.

    Have a wonderful day.

    Hey Tony,

Somehow I could see this answer coming like the taxman. Somehow, with my Decklink card I didn’t need it but I suspect you are right. thanks.

    Have a wonderful day.

    Hey Bob,

Yes, that worked, I reset audio to analog which is how it’s connected and now I’m getting it. Thanks!

The only other problem I’m still having is chattering video on capture from my Beta UVW1800 deck, I have to route the Y cable directly into the Y input instead of routing through the reference in, and then I can capture normally. Seems really stupid, but then I have to loop the Y cable back through the ref so I can see the picture on the monitor without horizontal scrolling issues.

BTW, I’m not using the AJA Ref in connector at all, don’t know where I would put it or what it would do. I don’t have a black burst generator if that makes a dif.

    Have a wonderful day.

I do it the way Walt does, there’s a sample of it on my Web site, I think it’s in the motion graphics section, for YPO. http://www.fisheyeedit.com

    Have a wonderful day.

    Erik,

Yes, you can use Animation in FCP, you can even do an easy setup for it so you will not have to render. Doub’t that Kona can help see DVDSP on a monitor, that’s Apple’s problem.

    Have a wonderful day.

Never mind, I found out that my ref connector was causing the problem. It all works as good as new.

    Hey Walter,

This seems to be getting me half way there. The video outoput on the monitor I bought from you is chattering all over the place. Not sure what’s going on here, but this whole experience is weird, stareed with nothing and keep getting a little bit more each half hour or so…

72 dpi is fine, it’s what you should use. The problem is the images are not properly optimized in Photoshop. I usually go twice the width of the frame or 1440 pixels. I guess in this case it would be 1928 or thereabouts. This is large enough for nearly any pan/zoom but small enough so that FCP doesn’t choke on it or add undue flicker or other artifacts. This last part is most important.
