There are several apps out there that allow you to blow up stills much better than Photoshop. I use PhotozoomPro, and I have blown up video stills to print resolution with much better results than just uprezing with Photoshop. Genuine Fractals and Smartscale are also good I’ve heard.

Still, most stills from video kinda suck at best, so you should not get your hopes up too much.

Natress’ filters are probably twice as fast as MB and 1/5th the cost, plus the results are fabulous.

There’s a low-cal water made by Gatorade called Propell that’s very nice, and it has vitamin C as well, a good chaser for Graeme.

I got an LH a couple of weeks ago, have had occasional audio problems as well. Like Cinewave, you have a control panel app, make sure your audio settings ae set properly for what you capture from.

Also, check your Mac sound settings, you may have the mute button set on output accidently, apparently if you hit the sound mute key right next to the eject button it turns off AJA’s sound.

In my experience, hirez images can contribute to a flickering problem in FCP. I am a firm believer in optimizing images in Photoshop, and this is the recipe:

Double-sized (as stated above) tiff files at 72 dpi. I have done several tests using this sized image at 72 dpi and 300 dpi, and flickering is much less of a problem in the former image.

Also, the flicker filter or a small amount of gaussian blur is usually all you need to get rid of the flicker entirely.
