Okay, it gets weirder. If I turn on “show timecode overlays” I can see a bit of the title safe lines in the windows, so they are there but they are BEHIND it canvas image!

When you encode the video and audio with the same ins/outs the sync is automatic. You just throw them in the track.

Hi Sophie,
Why not do this in anamorphic, provided your camera can do a true anamorphic image? Your graphics for that would be 864×480, and if you make them around double size you’d be able to pan and zoom quite a bit.
Your real problem later will be a good uprez, I hear the Kona 2 does a decent job.

Why so many filters? Is it for a look or is your video badly shot or lit? I like using Nattress Gfilm for a look, and because of all the adjustments in them rarely ever use more than just the one.

Spent a nice week in VT this past Summer, near lake George, beautiful!
No, if you’re shooting DV you gain nothing by digitizing at any other codec, EXCEPT, if you like the look you get by capturing via component which I sometimes do, same camera. (I do this wiht a DV deck that has component io) It’s a little softer, seems to convert to a film look like Nattress G-Film a little better. But, this is TOTALLY subjective, and subject to different user’s setups and monitors so results will vary. In short, there’s no one answer.
The main advantage to working in an uncompressed timeline, (10bit is overkill IMO and a harddrive and render hog) is that you get cleaner graphics for a DVD or whatever.

I’m a long-time AE user myself, and you seem to grasp the essential value of these two apps, sheer speed. I sometimes get low or no-budget jobs, (like my daughter’s wedding video) and these two are a real godsend. Fotomagico has an auto-animate feature as well but I have not tried it yet, don’t think it has a batch feature, but it renders really fast. You can render to any format.
