Out of Flash export to a QuickTime movie, I use Animation codec. Works great in FCP.

This is a pretty elemental question, one that’s answered at the very beginning of the MANUAL. Set still duration in preferences. Look around for it, as you’ll learn a few other things you really need to know.

I’ve seen this happen a bazillion times on several different machines and versions. It’s just a display thing. I use WindowshadeX on my machines, you can quickly double-click the top bar and it goes away.

Compressor can be made pretty versatile with custom presets, but take a look at Sorenson Squeeze and Compression Master.

Jeff’s diatribe cracked me up, I had the same hate/hate relationship with Matrox over the RTmac as he did. But, as to the price, if Matrox is true to their woeful ways, they’ll cut the price on the MXO in half in 6 months like they did on the RTmac, and leave early purchasers in the lurch just like they did then. Grrrr! Still burns my butt.

What you said could be, but also check your video card settings, don’t know what you’re using, but if it’s a Kona card or something similar, you want to check that everything is set right.

Just to clarify, in my experience, using this or any DVE type plugin in FCP requires that you nest the item first, or it will rotate out of the clip boundries. That said, any edge smoothing/feathering would have to be done inside the nest.
