The only notable change from the 3D to 3D+ was the addition of HDMI 1.4 frame packing support. Otherwise the card is much the same.

Hi Sean,
The HD Extreme 3D supports the HDMI 1.3 3D modes, and the HD Extreme 3D+ on top of those supports the HDMI 1.4 frame packing mode. You don’t however need a 1.4 cable to use these features. The only real addition the 1.4 cable was an Ethernet channel, that we don’t use. So just about any HDMI cable will suffice, even the really cheap ones will generally be OK.
The actual model of card you have will be listed in the Blackmagic Control Panel, where it says ‘Settings for your…’. It should also say on the serial number sticker both on the card itself, and on the packaging.

Hi Scott,
The Blackmagic codecs cannot be found on their own. To install them you will need to install the latest Desktop Video driver. This can be found by going to the support pages here:
https://www.blackmagic-design.com/support/
And then selecting the relevant OS, and any of the DeckLink series of cards from the selections.

The HD Extreme 3D requires a x4 PCIe slot, and will work in higher speed slots, but this will not offer any better performance.

If you needed to connect another HDMI TV to the Decklink card, either of these will do much the same kind of job, but there are some differences.
The SDI to HDMI Mini Converter would act in much the same way as the HDMI output of the card. Where the HDLink Pro will give you the ability to apply LUTs, or connect to a computer monitor using DVI, or DisplayPort with the HDLink Pro 3D DisplayPort.
You can find further information on our website here

https://blackmagic-design.com/products/hdlink/If you only need to connect to one HDMI TV, the output of the HD Extreme 3D should be sufficient.

Hi Pablo,
When outputting from a Decklink card, all of the outputs are active. So with the HD Extreme 3D you can output via the SDI outputs, the HDMI output and either Component, Composite or S-Video at the same time.
So what you want to do is indeed possible.

Hi Lutfi,
Typically the Xbox 360 will be outputting a 59.94Hz signal in all territories, unless it has specifically been set to 50Hz.
I would suggest making sure that ‘Display Discovery’ is disabled on the Xbox, otherwise the video format may change automatically when connected by HDMI. Then make sure the Xbox is set to output 720p.
If you then change the capture format in the capture application (Edit -> Preferences -> Project Video Format in Media Express) to 720p59.94, you will most likely get a preview picture.
If you do not, please try the other 720p formats just to be sure. I would also suggest making sure to have the latest graphics card drivers installed. Some drivers might not be sufficient to render the preview.
If all else fails, please do get in contact with your regional support team using our support request form from the product’s support page on our website here:

April 11, 2011 at 8:23 am in reply to: BlackMagic Media Express Preview is Black/Blank however recording is working fineHi Trent,
It would sound as if the preview in Media Express is simply not rendering. This is more often than not caused by graphics card drivers. we tend to see this kind of thing if the default graphics drivers from Windows Update are used.
I would suggest making sure to download and install the latest driver for your graphics card from the manufacturer’s website. If the hardware has not changed in your system, I would expect you will then see the preview without problem.
If you continue to have issues, please do get in contact with your regional support office either using the support form here:

March 28, 2011 at 10:00 am in reply to: Blackmagic error log to read timecode NOT time of day?!?!??!Hi Sarah,
UltraScope’s error logging will work with VITC for SD, or RP188 for HD timecode. If the timecode is not seen in UltraScope, it would seem that it is not present in the SDI signal. I’m afraid that I am not aware of any way to output these timecode formats from FCP.
