    1) I apologize about the typo in Alex Lindsey’s Name.
    2) Alex speaks to a lot of folks for free, on the MacBreak podcasts for example.
    3) I think that small independent developers like DV Garage and Noise Industries are more likely to provide improvements to FCP in the short term than Apple so that is why I was happy to hear that they are getting better development tools.
    4) Had too much coffee?

Usually the Blackmagic version of Apple 8 bit uncompressed. When I get an Intel mac I may switch to the Apple 422

Yes- it works fine for booth video and audio. You may still prefer the component route for chroma keying as it gives a softer edge.

Yup- totally solid. I had been using a Convergent HDMI to SDI converter which was unreliable in converting the output of my JVC 720p deck. (The Convergent had less trouble with 1080i and NTSC). The Multibridge Pro has no such trouble. The only down side so far is that my plasma monitor’s DVI input will not accept the Pro’s HDMI output, even though it will accept the HDMI output of my HDV decks.

Are you going in via firewire or a card? What version of firmware does the deck have?

If you are using a card you should use the latest firmware rev. (1.08). If you are using firewire use 1.03 or 1.06.

I have a G5 quad similar to Borjis. I was able to capture to ProRes 720p60 when it first came out but now cannot capture more than 5 minutes worth at a time. Since the ProApps update I can now capture a complete tape of ProRes 1080i but still not 720p. Go figure.

I presume your HD format is interlaced (like 1080i)? That works.

Simultaneous viewing of progressive HD and down converted interlaced SD (NTSC or PAL) does not work on any Blackmagic or AJA product that I have seen, while the MXO may.

That being said, I love being able to output SDI, component and composite all at the same time with my Multibridge Extreme. Not to mention that the Multibridge has inputs- the MXO does not.

My biggest hope when using this codec in standard def is that it fixes the green rendering artifacts that the current 10 bit uncompressed codec makes when you use mix it with anything with an alpha channel or use composite modes. While they’re at it, faster rendering in high precison 10 bit YUV mode would be nice as well.
