thanks! – but i’m still confused about this:

should i select SQUARE PIXELS in my comp set-up ?
(this AFX comp is strictly for generating these files for the website.)

    also: i’m no math whiz, but 320 x 2.25 = 720 and 240 x 2.25 = 540
    …doesn’t that make 320 x 240 the equivalent of 720 x 540 ?

sorry to be so rudimentary! – this puzzles my very analog mind.

i had this same question as i downconvert my ntsc videos for web use.

my web builders say .flv to prevent downloads
(i’m not offering downloads, it’s client owned design work.)

i’m wondering if i should convert them to square pixels ?

iPod size 320×240 is a downsize of DV NTSC SQUARE PIZEL 720×540.

my originals are 720×480. any thoughts ?

i’m trying to solve a similar problem and i’m wondering if
non-square pixel movies (ntsc originals) should be converted to square pixels for .flv web viewing ?

import as COMPOSITION rather than as FOOTAGE.

AFX will create a new composition within your project,
along with a folder containing each, both named as the AI file is named.

bring this comp into your working comp for master manipulation,
or open this comp separately to manipulate within the layers.

are you getting an error message ? -2166 ?

it may be your OS with AE 6.5

there are known audio conflicts between various combinations of
OSX 10.4.x , QT 7, and AE 6.5 or lower versions.

there is a thread on this is at:

i’m still using AE 5.5, with OSX 10.4 generic, and QT 7
when i upgraded to OSX 10.4.6 all my AE audio became unplayable
in the comp/timeline. i tried various OS and QT downgrades until
i settled on QT7 with OSX 10.4 generic.

of course i should upgrade everything but for a
small indy freelancer thats not always easy…
