You’ll get no argument from me on that. Add to it a lack of sync markers.

Yes. Always has. One of it’s terrific features that everyone should emulate.

And of course, that’s the base model. Plus a three grand a year software license fee. So, in theory, it could take away the need for ten Mac Pros, but not five, and certainly not one or two.

I agree completely. With the speed of updates over the last couple of years, Apple has certainly demonstrated to my satisfaction that they are seriously focused and concerned with furthering the software. Their pace to bring X up to scratch has been commendably rapid, and people who were disappointed because they were expecting something from NAB, are perhaps expecting too much from the X development team. For one thing, they’ve made it quite clear that NAB is not their bag.
I don’t know if X will ever develop into something that is right for me, but I have no doubt that it will continue to develop. If X appeals to you, there is just nothing else like it. As others have pointed out, this isn’t a race.

Maybe a bug in your metadata?
I’ve actually run into a problem similar to this a couple of times while rewrapping ProResHQ !080@50i to MXF. I’m curious–when you bring in the AMA file does it seem like it might be a couple of frames out of sync even though TC matches across the channels? The files would load and play fine in other NLEs, btw.
What I ended up deciding is that there was some sort of metadata mismatch that was causing the hang, probably from some odd setting at the post house where the files were generated.
I solved my problem by running my ProRes files through Compressor, straight across, keeping all settings the same and just re-compressing. Worked beautifully. Didn’t like the added time, but it ironed out the file.

Yes. I did a Sizzle mix with it recently and quite enjoyed it. Very full featured.
