I just ran into this as well. Sub Cap performance on 8.3 is terrible. I’m on a new Mac Pro Trash Can
and the performance is way better on our 5 year old Mac Pro machines running V6 of Avid.

I quickly tried the NewBlue titler and didn’t like it very much. I am receiving off-lines cut in HD to conform
    to UHD, and it’s a bit of a pain that I can’t just re-create title media…

Figured it out. Cut the key in and invert it.
No title tool is still a PITA.

are you dragging the mdb database file from the Avid MediaFiles folder? Try opening the media tool and dragging the clips from there into a bin.

In the limited tests I have done, it seems to work. When I send an AAF back to resolve from avid, I am able to reconnect to camera originals. I always check the assist using reel names embedded in source clip option in resolve- I’m not sure if this is critical, I just read that it’s a good idea once.

  • I have had this same problem. Workaround was to not use the aaf. Drag clips into a bin from the media tool.

I get glitches on renders sometimes when the new Mac pro has been on for a while. They look like long thin lines of green or pink, maybe 2 or 3 pixels tall and going across the whole frame. Restarting the machine makes them go away. Very annoying…

I have been using this workflow on a series recently:

Export AAF from avid (Link to original avid media DNX145)
    Color in resolve
Export using Avid round trip preset DNX220X targeting new folder 2
in Avid MediaFiles – MXF folder.
    Generate new AAF from Resolve
Let Avid scan the new database on Avid restart.
    Import AAF.
This has been working great so far.

Hmmm, my sequence only had constant speed changes, no ramps, and it was still completely unusable.
I wish they coluld work this out because it’s a huge PITA!

Yes, new AAF from Resolve – the one Resolve creates when using Avid AAF round trip. And conform using “assist using reel names embedded in source file”. Have tested this and it works.
