Hi John,
thanks for putting me straight on this. The trick is indeed turning ripple edit on, turning ALL tracks on and then dragging to the right.
I was getting stuck by leaving ripple on, instead of turning off and then opening the “hidden” segments. Again, thanks very much. -
Hello John,
Thanks for responding.
The Multicam track is the combined track created when I selected particular tracks to make into a multicam track. This left a number of other tracks untouched, such as audio and a few duplicate video tracks.
When I did the mutli cam edit, to remove any unwanted segments I would split ALL of the tracks somewhere near the edit point , slide them against each other and continue editing the multi cam by taking which shot I needed.
This got rid of chunks of unwanted material, such as chatter between songs etc.Now I want to “un-slide” these tracks apart. I know I can’t separate the individual tracks, which is why I left the sound tracks out of the multicam.
How do I go about selecting ALL tracks and “unslide” them apart, to see the segments that I removed?

February 13, 2009 at 2:44 am in reply to: Which file formats from the Mac can Vegas import?!?Hi,
I have been given a mac formatted hard drive that I can access on my windows XP PC with “Mac Drive 7”. The evaluation copy is good for 6 days, and then I would need to pay.
This mac drive (Lacie) was used to capture HD footage from a HV20 PAL camera on a mac.For other reasons, I cannot get hold of the original tapes, that I could have captured myself.
The hard disk contains a number of large (from 7GB to 20GB) files that report as being MooV filetype.
Can I simply copy these to my own hard drive and edit them using Vegas8, or do I need to change the filetype or some other trick before Vegas can recognise them?
I also have SUPER, but not sure if this will handle the moov filesI am then going to drop all of my M2T files back onto the drive so my colleague can use my footage of the same event. Will he have similar problems recognising these using his mac editing software (not sure which one he uses)?.

Thanks John and Gilles.
It seems that whichever way I go, adding a new camera gives me another set of edit decisions. It’s probably just as well that I created duplicate tracks before I created the Multicam track, so now I can go back and recreate the multicam track with the new camera included. I’m quite familiar with all of the different angles, so this shouldn’t take as long as the first time. Thanks again for your help. Chris -
Thanks for the prompt reply John.
Is it possible then to use these add ins after the event? -
Hi anyone out there who can help.
I have a similar problem but in Vegas 8
I was able to get several independently recorded tapes of the same concert, I synced them all together and merrily went on my way creating a multicam edit.
Now another camera guy has given me his tape of the same concert, and i want to add this to my multicamera edit.
Ive tried adding it as a take, but it only shows up when the particular take is used, not as another camera throughout the concertHow can I (or is it in anyway possible) to add, remove or replace tracks?
Thanks Chris -

December 10, 2008 at 3:42 am in reply to: OT Wireless transmission Camera to MonitorHi, Seems like your best solution is to run over CAT 5. Yes, there are such things, using a dedicated Video or A/V balun transducer, which converts to a digital signal and runs over a dedicated CAT5 cable. google “video over CAT5” you’ll find lots of suppliers. You need a dedicated balun at each end, and it can run off a simple 12v gell battery.

OK, so Ive done the multicam edit, but now I want to add some superimposed clips, using masks.
Fortunately, I copied all of the main tracks before I selected the original tracks for multicam, so I can see what’s there.
question is: do I need to copy the “spare” tracks to a track above the multicam track, and use this to generate masks?I’ve done a little bit of this but don’t seem to be able to create a mask. What could I be doing wrong?

Thanks for that hint, Yes, there is only one keyframe.
It looks like the problem is related to the “Quantize to frames” setting.
Once I had set that on, then problem resolved itself.
I suppose I should RTFMChris
