I have not used CS4, but no one has responded yet. So…
Does the drop shadow work on a title that is not crawling, or rolling?
I guess a lame-o fix would be to add a drop shadow video effect onto the title footage once it’s on the timeline, but there is no sensible reason why the titler drop shadow doesn’t work.
Any CS4 users gonna give this a test?

Strange that it asked to locate the file. That only happens when you change file names or delete or move any files or folders. Right?
If all the footage is from one source video clip, does that source footage contain all the audio if you drag it onto a new timeline? Or is the footage corrupted?
I don’t normally use the dynamic link between AE and Premiere, but I would assume any changes to the timeline in either app automatically update in the other. Because you needed to relocate when opening the project in Pro, I have to believe the issue lies in there. How about going through its history states. Is it possible there was an accidental deletion somewhere along the line?
What happens when you rename the source footage file, delete any preview files and then try and reopen the pproj file again? Same deal after relocating?

Are you capturing the footage as microsoft dv? [I assume your using dv footage]
Can it be the display settings in the program monitor are set to draft, instead of highest or auto quality?
What are you using to capture? CS3 or some other software?
What are your export settings?
Like Eddie said, give us some more info. I have seen sync issues before (5-15 frames) but it is usually just a rare hiccup.
I generally capture clips with a max duration of 15 minutes, so two hours of footage will automatically be split up into 8 clips. And in my experience, if clip003 had a sync slip for example, it seems to always correct itself at the start of clip004.

Probably a stupid question but… are you exporting the entire timeline, or just the work area?

I have found this happening when I have two seperate footage folders with the same name; even if they are on seperate internal drives. CS3 auto detects the wrong folder. The trick is to rename the folders and re-open the project file and point it to the correct files.

I have 6.5 and CS3 both installed, with no problems. What do you mean waveform??
6.5 shows a waveform when zoomed in 2 sec mode or closer, CS3 shows it in every zoom level…. however….. cs3 does not amplify the waveform display if you have a recording with low audio levels – where 6.5 does.
One way around this is to normalize the audio on the timeline by right clicking the audio track and selecting audio gain, and then pressing the normalize button. This will actually boost the audio levels up to 0 db.
Of course, make sure your audio track is twirled down, otherwise you won’t see the waveform at all. And if you do need it bigger, you can always expand the height of the track and the waveform will increase in size.

If you shift select (or ctrl select?) both the video and the audio clips, you can right mouse button and there will be a menu selection to link. If the clips were already linked, the menu would show an unlink command.

Basic Hue/Saturation effect along with Curves should give you control to make the “300” look. Here’s a link on the COW for basic color correction.

However, “300” was more about time remapping than colorizing – right?

I have actually thrown things at the camera, with a large pane of glass held in front of the lens. Works great. Just make sure to clean the glass between each take.

Would it be impossible to reshoot the BG plate and use a greenscreen where you and the car converge? That’s how I would go about this shot.
