I believe your limitations will be related to your
system/cpu/memory specs.I remember working on some rather large pans
and zooms on my old system years ago and having
out of memory errors. I had to resize down
the pictures, then it worked and still looked
great.The sizes that were huge and didn’t work
ended up being overkill anyway. -
look for an .ac3
maybe see what the ac-3 topic says in the help file?

Hi Bob,
I see your in the states, so you definitely don’t want to
be using mpeg layer 2 for audio as most U.S. players don’t
support it.PCM should be avoided, so stick with AC-3 around 256kbps
or less.For the video, make sure the bitrate does not exceed
7mbps. it can spike to it once in awhile but the average
bitrate should be 5 to 6mbps for the entire disc.what kind of media were you using? at this point you should
consider Verbatim so you can rest easy knowing its not
the media.and finally, try burning the disc at 1x. that can reduce
the amount of errors the player has to correct during playback.good luck.

I just tried this with Vegas4 and it does indeed work.
the quality will be lossless meaning you won’t lose
any quality.just as good as uncompressed but smaller file sizes.

The only way I’m aware is to buy camtasia screen capture software
and have it record the full screen with the presentation running.encode that .avi to mpeg2.
thats how I do it and clients have been satisfied.
(though i gotta admit i’ve seen lots of bad looking ones) -
Looks like Ritek/Ridata DL+R printable media is out.
anyone know when the DL-R printable media will be out?

if it helps, Quicktime ANIMATION & PNG are both lossless codecs
visually but not uncompressed. PNG files will be
much smaller than ANIMATION but will take longer
to render.lots of folks use PNG for this reason.

have you tried the panasonic recorders?
They are quite robust and industrial strength.
Picture quality is among the best out there
for realtime encoding on a set top.I have over 1,000 hrs on my laser diode
and have not had one hickup. Some discs
were 4hrs long.It doesn’t really get any more robust than that lol. 🙂
For digital dailies this is ideal.

yeah re-rendering mpeg2 is just about the worst kind
of thing you can do to make your footage un-pretty.many years ago, before I worked in production
and didn’t know better, a student film I edited
had been mpeg1 compressed over about 4 or 5 times.It looked awful. I learned a hard lesson that day.
