    Is it possible to capture a DV clip, put it on the
    timeline, then print to tape from the timeline without
    Vegas doing the 64-bit .wav rendering that appears
    to be going on before it outputs?

    I did the shift+m selective rendering and it seems
    to work but there is cracks and pops in the audio
    sometimes.

    when it renders the audio first, it seems to
    run smoothly.

    PTT from Vegas will create the W64 file. If you simply want to output an existing DV-AVI file, here are a couple of options:

    1) Output the file using Vegas’ CAPTURE program.
    2) Output using some other program such as Scenalyzer
