I turned off digital desktop and that did solve the pink snow issue.
But I like the idea you just posted.
One thing we always wanted to do with mbe was edit in HD with the LCD showing HD footage and the SD monitor showing a hardware downconversion of the exact same thing simultaneously.
Our clients would be quite impressed with that going.

It will not use some areas to keep the aspect ratio and exact
dimensions size.you will see interlacing if your HDV is 1080i.
720p will not show interlacing.

You load the lookup table in the black magic system preferences applet.
There’s a place where you can set the parameters or optionally load a .txt file.
its that simple.

oh, do you mean when fcp is not running its trying to send the desktop out the SDI port?
Is there any way to disable that on the sdi? I just want the screen to be black, like it did before on our Discreet *smoke.
I do like the desktop on the LCD though.

It only shows this on our SDI monitor.
DVI monitoring is fine (but thats the DELL for HD work)
we mostly do SD. -
look for an app called mpeg streamclip.
You can easily convert video files quickly and effectively this way.
You will have many more options with this and surely one of them will work.

I don’t know if this will help you but my sony UVW-1800 betasp deck
has an optional external controller box for setting all of those
attributes you speak of.
