$ 499 is an incredible price for the upgrade.
Anyone who buys Apple hardware or software anywhere near to a release is going to be upset.
I’ve seen it time and again.
The lesson learned is, never buy before NAB with apple very likely doing big releases with hardware or software.
and like the other poster said, be glad you didn’t buy an avid, your upgrade would be thousands more.

I’d like them to just fix all the “features” that are still broken, then we can talk about drop shadow presets I never use.

I think you would want to put the flash file with an autorun.inf and autorun.exe
in the rom section of the disc. -
another thing that can cause problems between DV decks is
recording in LP mode.this should never be done since it will likely only playback properly from
the deck that recorded it and you could get lots of drop outs also.Though I doubt the DSR-40 actually has LP mode since its mostly a consumer
grade camcorder function. -
when I need timecode dvds of jvc hdv tapes, I turn on the timecode
window output on my brhd50 and record the composite out of the
deck into a panasonic dvd recorder.works pretty well.
when shooting with the HD100 I have, I always start recording 10 seconds
before and after my shot, so it won’t be a problem later. A lot of shooters
advocate that anyway. -
I personally like to just open an exported batch list from fcp in excel
and use it as a template to send to my clients for logging.works well, free too. 🙂

I’m looking into this for our studio as well.
I found a great Dolby 5.1 plugin for Pro Tools HD, the same
company sells DTS and DTS-HD plugins as well. All of them
are just under 1,000 usd.as for putting surround on HDCAM, its my understanding that
you encode tracks 3 and 4 to Dolby-E where it is recorded
there as data that can be de-coded later.If your laying back to HDCAM-SR then you just record
the tracks/stems as separate channels (there are 12 available) -
somewhere in the sequence settings there is a setting
for motion quality to be fast, good or best.make sure its set for best.
I learned the hard way not to trust fcp for doing such things so
I do all of that kind of thing in after effects.Pictures even still ones can look really ugly if they are not downsized to near D1 sizes
before being dropped into a timeline.
