thats weird that 6.1 works perfectly fine with 5.04 but it does.
Did you make sure your meeting the requirements for OS X and quicktime
versions? (I did do that) -
You should be ok with 10-bit. (its all I render to)
a lot of the issues have to do with having the sequence rendering for 10-bit
in fcp set for 32-bit float which causes all kinds of problems according to Graeme Nattress.Someone also mentioned a problem with scaling footage in 10-bit, but if your just rendering
to the codec and outputting to tape it should be no problem. -
The gist of what I’m reading there indicates you should avoid
having your 10-bit sequences set to render 32-bit high precision. (Graemes own words)
That seems to be where the real problems occur.I’ve always had the sequence set to render in 10-bit just to keep it
all the same. I suppose that must be why I’m not seeing any problems. -

I have the BRHD50 as well on my mac setup.
right now my workflow for 24p (for 16mm HD aerial telecine I do now and then)
is to capture the 24p from the jvc over firewire with a program called DVHSCAP.I don’t run final cut 5.1.4 so this is the only way I can get 24p hdv.
I batch convert the captured files with mpeg streamclip, to 720 DVCPro-HD files.

In an attempt to solve two persistent problems with my multibridge extreme,
I installed 6.1, AFTER upgrading OS X and Quicktime to meet the other installation requirements.It seems to work fine with 5.04
It did not solve my two issues though and I’m still waiting for Black Magic
support to acknowledge one of the issues I’m having. -

I’d really like to know and see what the issues are all about.I have used nothing but 10-bit uncompressed (mostly digibeta workflow) for
over a year now and I’m just not seeing or having any problems with it. -
try making a new custom sequence matched exactly to the movie properties
size, aspect, codec….everything you can think of.thats where I would start.
its a shame they didn’t include an easy setup to install.
if you still can’t make it work, I’d transcode it to dvcpro-hd with mpeg stream clip.
that should definitely solve the real time issue. -

it won’t live update for my pro crt monitor, but at least it does it in the preview window on the system now.
