Blackmagic cards automatically convert off speed footage as you import. No need to use the frame rate converter. I would check the black magic web site for additional details.

Edit you show in DVCPRO HD. When you are completed, master your show back out to DVCPRO HD. Take the master and transfer it to D5 at 1080p. This route will give you the best picture quality.

I use the RGB gain for quick color correcting. Try removing some red, and see if you like the effect.

Yes. It can also down convert to DVCPRO 50.

Sounds like a back focus issue. Shoot this test: Zoom in on something far away. Zoom out and check to see if you are in focus. If not, you have a back focus problem.

Does the HDX-900 offer dynamic level adjustments like the Varicam?

If you shot 30p then ingest 30p. No need for the redundant frames.
Use easy setup DVCPRO HD 720 30p.

I don’t think Varicam owners have much to worry about. The HDX only will expand the use of DVCPRO HD, making it more ubiquitous. It helps keep the format relevant giving our investments a longer return.
The Varicam will always demand a higher rate, since it is a more advanced camera.

Thankfully the optics from Canon and Fujinon are still expensive. This will keep rental rates above SDX-900 prices. My guess is that HDX packages will go for $700-$800.
